Why HomeCore Construction

The First Thing People See

A new porch, deck or portico changes how a house looks from the street and how you use the front of your home. HomeCore Construction carpenters frame, deck, rail and trim every one of these themselves.

The porch on this page is on a Bay Shore home where we also built a second story addition. The portico is a new roof over a front entry, with bluestone steps and a walkway.

We build across Nassau and Suffolk counties and handle all permit filing and inspections. Suffolk County Home Improvement License HI-74242.

Questions

Decks, Porches & Porticos FAQ

Wood or composite decking?

Composite costs more up front but does not need staining and holds its color, which is why we used two-tone composite decking on our Bay Shore porch. Wood is a good choice for a classic look and a lower first cost. We will walk you through both.

Can you add a roof over my front entry?

Yes. We framed a new portico roof on a wood post and beam over a front door, with new bluestone steps and a walkway, and it is shown on this page.

Do porches and decks need a permit?

Most do, especially anything raised or attached to the house. HomeCore Construction handles all permit filing and inspections. Every Long Island town and village has its own building department and rules, so we check what your project needs before we price it, file the paperwork, and meet the inspectors on site.

Do you do the steps and walkway too?

Yes. Stairs, railings, bluestone treads with brick risers, and walkways are all part of the jobs shown here.

What areas do you serve?

HomeCore Construction builds porches, decks and porticos across Nassau and Suffolk counties, from Garden City and Rockville Centre to Bay Shore, Huntington and the East End.
