Why HomeCore Construction

Turn Garage Space Into Living Space

A garage is often the easiest square footage to add to a house. HomeCore Construction frames it, opens it into the house, insulates, wires, boards and finishes it so it feels like part of the home.

The project below shows a real job: a new pass-through cut from the garage into the house and a small new room built out, documented from the first cut to taped and spackled walls.

We work across Nassau and Suffolk counties and handle all permit filing and inspections. Suffolk County Home Improvement License HI-74242.

Questions

Garage Conversions FAQ

Can my garage become living space?

Often, yes. It depends on your zoning, your parking requirements and the condition of the slab and walls. We look at it and tell you honestly what is possible.

What does a garage conversion involve?

Typically framing new walls, cutting an opening into the house, insulation, electric, moisture resistant board where needed, drywall, a new door and finishes. Our Garage Opening story shows each of these steps.

Can you do part of the garage and keep the rest?

Yes. On the job shown here we cut a new opening from the garage into the house and built out a small new room while the rest stayed garage.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

HomeCore Construction handles all permit filing and inspections. Every Long Island town and village has its own building department and rules, so we check what your project needs before we price it, file the paperwork, and meet the inspectors on site. A conversion to living space usually needs an updated certificate of occupancy, which we take care of.

What areas do you serve?

HomeCore Construction converts garages across Nassau and Suffolk counties, from Garden City and Rockville Centre to Bay Shore, Huntington and the East End.
